The string as it actually appears is bundle variant #1 — with spaces, and numbered upward: bundle variant #2, bundle variant #3, and so on.
It is the variant name of the bundle line, and it shows in the cart, at checkout, on the order, and in your Shopify admin's variant list for the generated product. It is a fixed system string, written by the app every time it rebuilds the bundle's product.
Which bundles show it
Only Physical bundles with more than one price combination.
A Physical bundle with exactly one combination is a single-variant Shopify product, so Shopify stores "Default Title" there instead. Widget-only bundles have no product of their own at all. Shopify bundles carry the variant name you typed. Neither of those types ever shows this string.
Why it can't be renamed on a Physical bundle
The app recognises its own bundle line items in orders and inventory by that exact naming pattern. It is not a display label the app happens to use — it is the handle the app holds the bundle by.
It's also regenerated from scratch every time the app rebuilds the bundle, so a name typed over it in Shopify admin is replaced at the next rebuild.
The way to get a name you choose: a Shopify bundle
On a Shopify bundle, the Bundle components table has a Variant name column you can edit, and that text is exactly what the shopper sees as the bundle variant at checkout and on the order.
It's required, must be unique across the grid, and is capped at 255 characters. It arrives pre-filled from the component product titles, with repeats collapsed as "Title x2", so you're editing a sensible starting point rather than an empty box.
One caveat worth knowing before you rebuild anything: a Shopify bundle with exactly one combination is also a single-variant Shopify product, so Shopify stores "Default Title" there too and the name you typed isn't what comes back. The editable name only helps on a bundle that generates more than one combination.
Moving an existing bundle to the Shopify type
The bundle type locks on the first save, so there's no switch to flip on a bundle you've already built. Duplicating is the route:
Open the Bundles list and use the ••• menu on the bundle's row → Duplicate.
On the copy, while it's still unsaved, set the type to Shopify.
Fill in the Variant name column, save the copy.
Deactivate or delete the original.
Bear in mind that a Shopify bundle behaves differently in the cart from a Physical one: it goes in as one product line and is split into its components at checkout and in the order.
