A free gift with purchase automatically rewards customers with a complimentary product when they buy qualifying items or reach a cart threshold. It's one of the most reliable ways to raise your average order value and boost perceived value — without discounting your best-seller directly.
Best for: nudging larger carts, moving slow-selling stock, and adding a "wow" moment at checkout.
How to set up a free gift
On your MBC Bundles dashboard, click Create new bundle (or open an existing bundle to edit it).
Enter a descriptive Bundle name your customers will see.
Add the trigger products — the items a customer must buy to unlock the gift — or set a minimum cart amount as the condition (for example, "Spend $50").
In the Free gift section, turn on Enable free gift.
Choose the gift: select a specific product, or pick a collection to offer a choice of gifts. [Screenshot: Free gift section with product/collection selector]
(Optional) Turn on Auto-add free gift so the gift is added to the cart automatically the moment a customer qualifies — no extra clicks required.
Edit the widget text to make the offer clear, e.g. "Add $10 more and get a free gift 🎁".
Click Save and Publish.
Tips
Pick a low-cost, high-perceived-value gift — a sample, travel size, or accessory works well.
Set your threshold slightly above your current average order value to encourage bigger carts.
Keep the gift product in stock. See Bundles with out-of-stock products for how out-of-stock items are handled.
