Release 1.167.0

October changelog: native Shopify bundle support, per-bundle layout selection, and widget fixes.

Written by Andrey Gadashevich

This release shipped in October. The entries below describe what changed at that time; where a change only affects one bundle type, that is stated.

Updates

MBC Bundles integrates with Shopify's Native Bundle APIs

This applies to the Shopify bundle type — the one of the three bundle types that creates a native Shopify bundle product. It does not change how Physical or Widget-only bundles behave.

For a Shopify bundle, this means:

  • It is one line in the cart, split into its components at checkout and in the order, or shown separately depending on setup.

  • It works in Shopify POS natively, as a single product, the same way it works in the Online Store.

  • Its sales appear in Shopify's own native Analytics, because a Shopify bundle is a real Shopify product.

What each bundle type reaches

"Sell everywhere" is not store-wide, so it is worth stating per type.

Shopify bundle. Online Store, Shopify POS, and the Shop app.

Physical bundle. A regular Shopify product, so it lists on Google, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram the way any other product does, plus the Online Store — and on Shopify POS for the discount.

Widget-only bundle. No Shopify product is created, so it does not list on Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram or the Shop app. It reaches the Online Store, and Shopify POS for the discount only.

One thing is true of every type: the bundle discount applies to any matching POS cart automatically, with no tile and no cashier step. Full detail is in "Where your bundles can sell."

Layout selection for bundle creation

Previously, layout could not be chosen when creating a bundle, except on Volume discount. Layout is now chosen per bundle rather than store-wide.

The controls live in the bundle editor's live preview panel: a Product images checkbox, and a two-button icon toggle with tooltips reading "Horizontal layout" and "Vertical layout". The toggle switches the bundle between a horizontal row layout and a stacked vertical one, and it applies to Volume discount widgets too.

There is no shop-wide default for this layout switch — it is set bundle by bundle, in that preview panel, not on the Widget customization page. See "Styling and laying out the bundle widget."

Improvements

Carousel navigation after dropdown selection

When a customer selects an option from a dropdown inside a bundle, they can still swipe left or right to navigate the bundle carousel without the interaction being blocked.

Dropdown alignment

All dropdown menus — size, value, selling plans and the rest — are now aligned on the same horizontal line across both the main widget and the preview interface.

Fixes

Product quantity badge visibility

Fixed an issue where the product quantity badge was not showing in the widget or widget preview when using the List without images layout or the Mix & Match – Selector template. Quantity badges now display correctly across these layouts.
