If a control in the bundle editor is greyed out, hidden, or missing entirely, it's almost always because some other condition in the bundle isn't met yet — not a bug. This article works through every control that behaves this way.
A note before you read "PRO" anywhere below
A few entries below mention legacy plan gating. On every current plan — Free included — you already have full access to Product groups, Optional products, the Quantity selector, "Applies to → Individual product price," and "Create a product for this bundle," and the app never draws a PRO badge next to any of them on a current plan. The PRO badge only ever appears for a store still on an older, legacy plan generation. So if you see a PRO badge in your account, it means your store is on one of those legacy plans — it does not mean a current plan is missing the feature, and you will never need to upgrade a current plan to get access to anything listed below.
Separately, a few entries mention plan limits — that's about how many bundles, or which bundle types, your plan allows. That's a different thing from the legacy-plan gating described above.
Bundle type and the generated product
"Create a product for this bundle additionally to widget." This checkbox is available while you're creating or duplicating the bundle, with structure Separate products or Product groups, items that are individual products, tiered/volume discount off, the Quantity selector off, and Optional products off or in checkbox mode. On a legacy plan it also needs that plan's full access to this feature, shown by a PRO badge; on current pricing there's no badge and no restriction on this checkbox at all. To add or remove a product page on a bundle you've already saved, duplicate it (Bundles list → ••• → Duplicate) and set the checkbox on the copy before the first save.
Physical bundle / Shopify bundle radios. Available once the "Create a product…" checkbox is ticked, under exactly the same conditions as above. The fix is the same — duplicate the bundle and choose the type on the copy.
Bundle type card. As a whole, shown only when the structure is Separate products or Product groups. Volume discount and BOGO bundles are always widget-only, so this card doesn't apply to them.
"Bundle products on cart and checkout page." Separate items or Single product — available on a Shopify bundle, or on a Physical bundle still saved as "Single product." On a Physical bundle already saved as Separate items, duplicate the bundle and choose Single product on the copy.
Add tags / Add product to collections pickers. Available only while you're creating or duplicating the bundle. On a saved bundle, use the "Edit tags, collections, description" link, which opens the product in Shopify admin.
Price and Compare at price. In the Bundle components table, these are never editable — they're calculated and shown so you can check them. Change the discount configuration or the component products instead; the grid updates automatically.
Bundle components table. Also called the combinations grid, shown only when the bundle is a Shopify bundle. Physical bundles get their variants from the backend price calculation instead, with no per-combination grid.
"View in admin." This page action is available once the bundle is a saved Physical or Shopify bundle whose Shopify product already exists. Product creation happens asynchronously, so save the bundle and reload the page if it isn't there yet.
"View in online store." This page action is available once the saved bundle is Active and the "MBC Bundles App" embed is turned on in the theme. Publish the bundle and turn on the app embed if either is missing.
Structure and products
Volume discount radio. In the Bundle structure card, available while the bundle is being created, or when the saved bundle's type is Widget-only. On a saved Physical or Shopify bundle, duplicate it as widget-only to use Volume discount.
Bundle structure card. Available whenever the bundle's structure is anything other than the legacy BOGO value. Legacy BOGO bundles keep their existing layout — build a new bundle if you want to change structure.
Product groups radio. Always available on current pricing, Free included; on a legacy plan it needs that plan's full access to this feature, shown by a PRO badge. Either way, a bundle you've already built with Product groups keeps its layout — the radio stays checked and locked. Nothing to do on current pricing; on a legacy plan, use Separate products instead.
"Add collections" button. Available on a Product groups bundle when the group is empty and the bundle type is Widget-only. Empty the group first, or use a widget-only bundle — a group that already holds products only accepts more products.
Apply to. Products, Collections, or All store — available when the structure is Volume discount or BOGO. Separate products and Product groups derive their source from what you add directly, so this setting doesn't apply to them.
Exclude products. Available when the structure is Volume discount or BOGO and Apply to is Collections or All store. Switching Apply to back to Products clears the exclusion list automatically.
Optional products. Always visible and switchable on current pricing, Free included; on a legacy plan it needs that plan's full access to this feature, shown by a PRO badge. Nothing to do on current pricing; on a legacy plan, keep every item compulsory.
"Customers choose products." With checkboxes, or from a pop-up — available when Optional products is on, the structure is Separate products, and the bundle type is Widget-only. Every other combination uses inline checkboxes instead, with the note "Mark above the products that are optional."
Quantity selector. Available when the bundle type is Widget-only, switchable on every plan on current pricing, Free included; on a legacy plan it needs that plan's full access to this feature, shown by a PRO badge. Duplicate the bundle as widget-only if it isn't already.
"Optional" checkbox. On a product row, available when that product is marked Pre-selected. Re-tick Pre-selected to make Optional editable again.
"Pre-selected" checkbox. Available when the product is marked Optional, with Optional products on and in checkbox mode on Separate products.
Uncombined quantity. Available once at least one group has an Item quantity above 1, or when the setting is already on; offered on Separate products and Product groups, never on Volume discount or BOGO. Raise a group's Item quantity to 2 first — the checkbox then appears.
Item quantity ("Qty"). Available when Uncombined quantity is off. With Uncombined quantity on, the quantity exists instead as that many separate rows you edit individually.
Product swap. Available when the structure is Product groups and the group holds more than one product, or holds a collection. A single-product group has nothing to swap to.
Default variant. Available when the product has more than one variant. A product whose only variant is "Default Title" shows no variant line at all.
Mix & Match template. Available when the structure is Product groups, every group is a products group or empty, and at least one group holds more than one product. Collection groups swap through the storefront resource picker instead.
Minimum items required / Maximum items allowed. Available when the Quantity selector is on, or when Optional products is on.
The number field. It sits under Maximum items allowed and is available when "Limited" is selected — "No limit" hides the number field.
Discount
Discount groups radio list. No discount, Standard, Tiered, and Free gift — available when the structure is Separate products or Product groups. Volume discount shows its own per-option editor instead, and legacy BOGO bundles show only a free-gift picker.
Tiered discount group. Available when the bundle is widget-only — the "Create a product" checkbox is off — and Optional products or the Quantity selector is on. Turn on Optional products or the Quantity selector on a widget-only bundle to reach it. Turning Tiered discount on also locks the "Create a product" checkbox, with the caption "Not available with tiered discounts."
Free gift group (percentage-based). Available when Optional products is off, or on with "With checkboxes." Switch the optional-product display mode to checkboxes if it's using the pop-up instead.
Free gift group. Using the legacy free-products picker, available when the bundle is already saved with that mechanism, is widget-only, and Optional products is off or uses checkboxes. A bundle that has never used this mechanism can't be switched to it — use the regular Free gift group, or a Volume-discount per-option free gift instead.
Type selector. Percentage, Sale price, or Amount off — available when Standard discount is selected and the Free gift group is off. With the Free gift group on, pricing is always by percentage, and per-product Free tick-boxes replace the Type selector.
Sale price and Amount off. Available when the bundle has a bounded item count — Optional products and the Quantity selector both off; or Maximum items allowed set to Limited; or Optional products on with the Quantity selector off and Applies to set to Individual product price. Percentage is offered in every configuration. Set Maximum items allowed to Limited, or switch Applies to to Individual product price; a stored Sale price or Amount off is automatically rewritten to Percentage on save if the selection becomes unbounded.
Applies to. Set to "Individual product price," this is available when Standard discount is selected, on every plan on current pricing, Free included, shown with no suffix; the "(PRO)" suffix, and the note that goes with it, appear only on a legacy plan. Nothing to do on current pricing; on a legacy plan, price the bundle as a whole using Bundle subtotal amount instead.
Applies to. As the whole field, available when Standard discount is selected, the Free gift group is off, and Optional products is off or uses checkboxes. With the pop-up optional picker, this field isn't shown and the bundle is priced on its subtotal instead.
Value box. Available when Standard discount is selected, the Free gift group is off, and Applies to is Bundle subtotal amount. With Individual product price selected, the value is typed on each product row instead.
Per-tier discount type. In a Tiered discount, Percentage is the only type a tier can use, because the shopper decides how many items go into the bundle. Use the Volume discount structure instead if you need fixed per-option prices.
Label, Badge, Free gift add-ons and "Pre-selected default option." Available when the structure is Volume discount. A Tiered discount only offers Discount and Description.
Option Title / Custom title control. Available when the structure is Volume discount.
Per-option Title box. Available when Option Title is set to "Custom title."
Delete (bin) icon. On a Volume-discount option or a free-gift group, available when more than one option, or group, exists.
"Add:" row. Available when at least one add-on is not yet on that option. Unticking an add-on's checkbox hides its field but keeps what you typed.
Discount prefix. In Settings, available when your store runs on the code-based discount engine. Stores on Shopify Functions don't use a code prefix, so this setting doesn't apply to them.
Placement, dates and advanced
"Select where the widget will be displayed." Available once "Show the widget on product pages of included bundle items" is ticked, on a Separate products or Product groups bundle. Tick the parent setting first if it isn't showing.
"Show the widget on the bundle's own product page." Available when the bundle has its own Shopify product. It stays ticked and locked when the bundle offers variant choice — any group with more than one product, or a first product with more than one variant — because the shopper makes that choice inside the widget. That locked state is correct and working; there's nothing to change.
The copyable <mbc-bundles-widget> snippet. Available once the bundle has been saved at least once, so it has an ID. Save the bundle, then reopen the Widget placement card if it isn't there yet.
On product page / On bundle page Top-Bottom selects. Available when the matching store-wide Yes/No setting is set to Yes. Set that store-wide setting to Yes first.
Markets card. Available when your shop has more than one Shopify market. A single-market shop serves every bundle to everyone, so this card doesn't apply.
Bundle priority. Available when the structure is Separate products, Product groups, or BOGO.
A cluster of Volume-discount-only controls. Price display, Hide "Add to Cart" button, Product variant selection (each item / once), and Auto-add free gift to cart are all available only when the structure is Volume discount.
Product variant selection. Current page product, or first in list — available when the structure is Product groups.
"Add new product variants to product bundle automatically." Available when the bundle is widget-only and built from individual products. Collection and all-store bundles have no per-product variant rows to sync.
"Enable integration with subscription apps." Available when the bundle is widget-only or Physical. Shopify bundles don't offer this integration.
Bundle status toggle. Always present, except that a bundle beyond your plan's current limits shows an upgrade modal instead of publishing. Upgrade your plan, or bring your bundle within its limits.
Every A/B-shared field. Bundle internal name, Bundle active period, Countdown timer, Markets, Widget placement, subscription integration, Exclude B2B customers, and Bundle priority are editable only on the primary (A) variant of the test. Edit variant A instead, or end the test and choose a winner.
"Check sync" button. This doesn't exist anywhere in the current admin — there's nowhere to find it. To refresh one stale bundle, open it in the app and save it again; that re-reads the current component prices and republishes the product. If you need several bundles resynced at once, contact support and mention you need a shop-wide resync of your published Physical bundles. For collection data, use Settings → Sync collections → "Sync now."
