Most of a bundle can be edited any time after you save it. A handful of choices, though, lock in permanently the moment you save — or lock in as soon as a specific condition is met. Read this before you build a bundle, so you don't have to duplicate a working one just to fix a setting that turned out to be one-way.
Bundle type and structure
The bundle's presentation type. It locks on the first save. Widget-only, Physical and Shopify are stored as a single field: once a bundle is saved, the editor disables the checkbox and both radios and locks the bundle to the type it was saved with on every future edit, so there's no way to change the type on an existing bundle. To change it, go to the bundles list, open the ••• menu on the row, and choose Duplicate — the copy opens in duplicate mode, where the checkbox and radios are editable again. Set the type, save the copy, then deactivate or delete the original.
"Create a product for this bundle additionally to widget." It's the same field as the presentation type, and it locks too, fixed on the first save: a widget-only bundle can never be given a product page later, and a bundle with a product can never be reduced to widget-only. Duplicate the bundle and tick (or untick) this on the copy before the first save.
"Bundle products on cart and checkout page." This radio can become uneditable: it's offered on a Physical bundle only while it's still saved as "Single product"; the moment it's saved as Separate items, the control is gone for that bundle. On Shopify bundles, the radio is always available — this limitation doesn't apply to them. Duplicate the bundle and choose Single product on the copy before saving.
The "select Physical bundle type" remedy. It only appears on the first save. After that, the 2048-combination-limit error message drops that remedy, because the bundle type can no longer be changed at that point. Reduce the number of selectable product variants, or duplicate the bundle as a Physical bundle.
The generated product
Tags, collections and description. Of the generated product, these lock too: the in-app pickers are create/duplicate-mode controls only, and fixed on the first save; in edit mode, the card becomes a link into Shopify instead. Edit them on the product directly in Shopify admin, through "Edit tags, collections, description" — or set them correctly on a duplicate before saving.
The "bundle variant #N" variant name. On a Physical bundle, it's always locked: generated automatically every time the app rebuilds the bundle, and the app depends on that exact naming pattern to recognize its own bundle line items in orders and inventory. Use a Shopify bundle instead, where the Variant name column in the Bundle components table shows exactly that text.
The _VariantIds and #N / _#N cart properties. These are always locked — internal bookkeeping the app needs for inventory and cart validation. Only the checkout visibility of the #N lines is configurable — in Settings → "Show bundle props on checkout."
Price and Compare at price. In the Bundle components grid, these are always locked — they're calculated from the components and the discount. Change the discount configuration or the component products instead.
Store-wide and language settings
The widget's base language. It must stay English once the shop has widget text: all of your widget's text is generated starting from the English version. Add other languages alongside English — English itself stays.
The previous product list. It's lost on page reload after a structure switch: the snapshot of the outgoing structure's settings lives only in your current editing session and is never saved. Switch back within the same session to restore it — after a reload, you'll need to rebuild the list.
Per-bundle widget ticks. These get overwritten each time the store-wide setting is saved: saving "Widget on product pages" or "Widget on bundle pages" at the store level overwrites the matching per-bundle tick on every bundle — the "widget on product pages" tick on every bundle, and the "widget on bundle page" tick on every single-variant Physical bundle. Re-apply your per-bundle ticks after changing the store-wide setting. Multi-variant Physical bundles are left alone.
The Shopify product's status. This can be edited by hand, but not permanently — the app writes the product's status from the bundle's status on every rebuild, so a hand-edited status only survives until the next rebuild. Change the status in the app using the header toggle instead.
Legacy and testing constraints
The legacy free-gift mechanism. The "choose one free gift from a separate list" mechanism is closed to new bundles: only bundles already saved with it can still use it — a bundle that has never used this mechanism has no way into it from the editor. Use the Free gift discount group, or a Volume-discount per-option free gift instead.
Fields shared with a running A/B test. These are locked on the non-primary variant while a test runs, because those fields are shared across both variants of the test. End the test or choose a winner, then edit.
