Growing sales: upsells, post-purchase offers, AI suggestions, analytics and A/B tests

Cart and post-purchase upsells, AI-generated cross-sell widgets, data-driven bundle recommendations, analytics, and A/B testing — the tools for growing revenue from bundles you already have.

Cart upsell popup

Upsell Popup shows a popup with a bundle offer when a related product is added to the cart.

  • Enable Upsell Popup, and choose which pages it can appear on: Homepage, Product page (works only with the slider/Ajax cart), Collection page, or Cart page.

  • It only appears when at least one item already in the cart belongs to an active bundle; if several cart items qualify, the bundles containing them are the ones offered.

  • Multiple appearances lets you set a Number of additional appearances and an Interval, in seconds, so the popup can resurface rather than showing once and never again.

  • The popup's title is styled in Widget customization, alongside the rest of the widget's design settings.

Post-purchase upsell

Post-Purchase Upsell shows 1–3 AI-selected suggestions after payment but before the Thank You page, based on popular product combinations and excluding whatever was just purchased.

Setup happens in two places: in Shopify Admin → Settings → Checkout → Post Purchase page, select MBC Bundle Products as the post-purchase app; then in the app's Upsell page, set a Heading and a Discount value greater than 0. Both are required for the offer to actually show.

AI Bundle Widget

AI Bundle Widget automatically builds cross-sell widgets on product pages, generated from your order history, best sellers, and Shopify's own recommendations — and it deliberately avoids suggesting combinations that already exist as manual bundles.

  • Enable AI Bundle Widget, with a discount value and an option to Show compare price if available.

  • Product selection for bundles — choose Only products previously bought together, or Include random products, optionally scoped to predefined collections with specific product pages excluded.

  • Exclude products from AI Bundles — keep specific products out of AI-generated offers entirely.

  • Don't show the AI Bundle Widget if a manual bundle widget already exists on that product page — avoids stacking an AI suggestion on top of a bundle you built by hand.

  • Limit the number of AI bundle widgets displayed on product page — caps how many AI widgets can show at once.

Bundle Ideas

Bundle Ideas is a data-driven recommendation page, built from your store's own order history, suggesting bundle combinations worth creating. If your store doesn't yet have enough order data for a useful recommendation, the page offers Create bundle with an expert instead. Inside the bundle editor itself, See most & least selling products surfaces your top and bottom five sellers over the last 30 days for quick adding to a bundle.

Analytics

Available on paid plans, over a period you select. It reports:

  • Revenue — total revenue including bundles, bundles revenue specifically, store revenue, and the average share of revenue bundles contribute.

  • Average Order Value — AOV without bundles, bundles AOV, and total AOV.

  • Orders — total orders, bundle orders, bundle share as a percentage, an order table, and a Create order action.

  • Bundle conversion (all time) — impressions, add-to-cart clicks, purchases, click rate, and purchase rate, broken out per bundle.

  • Top Selling Bundles / Products / Patterns.

  • Bundle AI and Top Selling AI Combinations — performance specifically for the AI-generated widgets above.

  • ROI — what you've paid the app, revenue generated, and ROI as a percentage.

  • Similar stores benchmarks — bundle revenue, revenue increase, and active bundle count compared to comparable stores.

Two things worth knowing about what's counted: duplicate orders created by third-party inventory splitting (see "How a bundle reaches the cart, checkout and the order") are excluded from these numbers, and Shopify bundle sales also appear separately in Shopify's own native Analytics, since a Shopify bundle is a real Shopify product.

Analytics does not render on the Free plan — it requires a paid plan regardless of order volume.

A/B testing

Add variant creates up to four widget variants (A–D) of one bundle, each with its own configuration, its own preview, and edited in its own tab. Run A/B test splits shoppers across whichever variants are active. End A/B test shows revenue and purchases per variant, so you can pick a winner: once chosen, all traffic moves to that variant, and the rest are archived.

While a test is running, several fields stay shared across all variants and are editable only on the primary (A) variant — the bundle's internal name, active period, countdown timer, Markets, widget placement, subscription integration, Exclude B2B customers, and bundle priority. The bundle list marks tested bundles with an A/B test badge and lets you expand or collapse their variants.

Guided help, if you'd rather not build alone

  • Create bundle with expert, available from the Home page and from Bundle Ideas when there isn't enough order data for an automated suggestion.

  • Check My Bundle, available after you've customized your first bundle — support reviews your setup.

These sit alongside the growth tools above rather than replacing them, and are worth using if you're building your first bundle or want a second opinion before a launch.

Exporting your data

Both exports offer a plain CSV or a CSV formatted for Excel, Numbers and other spreadsheet apps.

  • Your bundle list — from the Dashboard, next to the list of bundles.

  • Your bundle orders — from Analytics → Orders, either all orders or a date range you choose.

Sharing a bundle

A bundle built as a Shopify or Physical bundle has its own product page, so that page's normal URL is the link to share. There is no separate campaign or tracked link generator for an individual bundle. Some stores also have legacy Facebook, X, Pinterest and LinkedIn share icons on the widget; those point at that same product-page URL.
