What each validation message means

Every error and warning the bundle builder can show, in its own words, with what it means and how to clear it.

Some messages appear immediately, as you type — these are marked (immediate) below. Everything else appears only after you first try to save.

Structure and products

Every message in this section blocks saving, whenever it's shown.

"Choose a preset or build your own bundle" The bundle has no structure selected yet. Click a preset, or pick a radio option in the Bundle structure card.

"Add at least one product" The bundle has a structure but no products and no collections added. Add products in the Bundle products card.

"Add at least one collection" A Volume discount or BOGO bundle has Apply to set to Collections but no collection added. Add a collection, or switch what Apply to is set to.

"Add at least one product to the group or remove the group" A product group is empty. This appears inline inside that group. Fill the group with at least one product, or delete it.

"The specified value is greater than the number of products, add products or change the value of this field"Minimum items required is higher than the total quantity of products across the bundle's groups. Add products, or lower Minimum items required.

"Max can't be lower than min"Maximum items allowed is below Minimum items required. Raise the maximum, or lower the minimum.

"Max can't be lower than the number of required groups" Maximum items allowed is below the number of compulsory groups. With Optional products off, every group counts as required. Raise the maximum, or mark more groups Optional.

"250 max price combinations for this bundle type. You have {count}. Reduce product variants."(immediate) A Physical bundle's distinct price combinations exceed 250. Reduce the number of selectable variants — the 250 limit counts distinct price outcomes, not raw variant permutations.

"2048 max combinations for Shopify bundle. You have {count}. Reduce product variants or select Physical bundle type."(immediate) A Shopify bundle currently being created exceeds 2,048 combinations. Reduce selectable variants, or switch the bundle to Physical while you're still creating it.

"2048 max combinations for Shopify bundle. You have {count}. Reduce product variants."(immediate) The same 2,048 limit, but shown while editing an already-saved bundle, where the bundle type can no longer be changed. Reduce selectable variants, or duplicate the bundle as Physical instead.

"Failed to generate combinations. Please check your settings and try again. Try reducing the number of products or product variants. Note: the "Uncombined quantity" and "Optional products" settings significantly increase the number of possible combinations."(immediate) Combination generation for a Shopify bundle failed. Reduce products or variants — as the message notes, Uncombined quantity and Optional products are the two settings that multiply the number of combinations fastest.

"Variant name is required" A row in the Bundle components table has no Variant name filled in. Type a name on that row.

"Variant name must be unique" Two rows in the Bundle components table share the same Variant name. Make each name distinct.

"SKU must be unique" Two rows in the Bundle components table share the same SKU. Make each SKU distinct, or clear them — the SKU field is optional.

Discount

"No products added" The legacy free-gift picker has neither a free product nor a free collection added. Add products or collections with Add products / Add collections. The empty-state box turns red with an alert icon.

"Select at least one product as a free gift" The Free gift discount group is turned on, but no product, variant, or collection is set to 100% off. Tick Free on at least one product in the bundle.

"Must be at least 1+ more than previous option"(immediate) An option's Required items isn't higher than the previous option's. Raise this option's Required items — options must climb in order.

"Option must have discount enabled when previous options have discounts"(immediate) This option has no Discount add-on while an earlier option does. Add the Discount add-on to this option — once one option carries a discount, every later option must too.

"Sale price must be less than the previous option with the same discount type"(immediate) With Sale price selected, this option's per-unit price isn't lower than the previous same-type option's. Lower this option's sale price. Remember that an option's sale price is the price of the whole option, and it's compared after dividing by Required items.

"Discount value must be greater than the previous option with the same discount type"(immediate) With Percentage or Amount off, this option's value isn't higher than the previous same-type option's. Raise this option's value.

"Sale price must be greater than the next option with the same discount type"(immediate) With Sale price selected, this option's per-unit price isn't higher than the next same-type option's. Raise this option's sale price, or lower the next option's.

"Discount value must be less than the next option with the same discount type"(immediate) With Percentage or Amount off, this option's value isn't lower than the next same-type option's. Lower this option's value, or raise the next option's.

"Add at least one free gift group" An option has the Free gift add-on turned on with no gift groups created. Click Add free gift to create a group.

"Add at least one product to the free gift group" A gift group on an option holds no products. Add products to the group, or remove the add-on.

In plain terms: across a set of Volume discount options, the required quantity must climb, the discount must improve as it climbs, sale prices are compared per unit (which is why "2 for $15" followed by "3 for $22" passes — $7.50 down to $7.33 per unit), and any free gift group must have at least one real product in it.

Dates, markets, and countdown

"End date and time must be in the future" The countdown timer's Custom end date is missing or set in the past. Pick a future date and time — this is the countdown timer's own end date, not the bundle's overall end date.

"Select at least one market" The Markets card is set to Specific markets with nothing chosen. Choose at least one market, or switch to All markets.

Neither the bundle's own Start date nor its own End date has a validation rule — a past date on either one will save without any error, and an end date that's before the start date will also save. If a bundle isn't showing and you suspect its dates, check the status badge (Scheduled or Expired) rather than looking for an error message, since none will appear.

Save-time messages from the server

"The bundle was not saved because the collection "" could not be loaded from Shopify. Please try again in a few minutes; if it keeps failing, contact support." (or, for more than one: "…because these collections could not be loaded from Shopify: "A", "B"…") Shopify didn't return a collection this bundle uses. Retry in a few minutes; if it keeps happening, contact support. This message names a specific collection — it is not the same as the "duplicate slot" situation where the same collection is added to two groups. That case is silently merged instead, with no error currently expected — see "Offer the same collection in more than one slot of a bundle" for details, including a report of an error appearing in that exact scenario that we're still tracking down.

"The bundle was not saved because Shopify did not return this bundle's collections in time. Please try again in a few minutes; if it keeps failing, contact support." The allotted time for Shopify calls ran out during the save. Retry in a few minutes.

"Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes; if it keeps failing, contact support." A generic save failure. Retry; if it keeps happening, contact support and include the bundle's ID or name.

Warnings that do not block saving

"This product is not included in the sales channel "Online store"" That product's row is a draft, archived, or not published to Online Store. The row's border turns warning-coloured. Publish the product in Shopify — the bundle will still save either way, but the storefront drops any bundle whose selected products aren't published. See "Why isn't my bundle widget showing?" for the full list of reasons a widget can disappear from the storefront.

"No available variants" The product row has no usable variants — usually because every variant was deselected when the product was picked. Re-open the product picker and select at least one variant.

"If the selected products cost less than the set sale price, the bundle will be added at the actual cost, as the app can only decrease prices, not increase them." A sale price can only ever lower a bundle's total, never raise it. Nothing to fix here — this is a dismissible reminder shown whenever Type is Sale price.

"It is not permitted to use the shop without subscribing" Shown while the store-wide Subscription discounts combination toggle is on. Informational only.

"Please review your product page carefully. If anything displays incorrectly, contact our support team for assistance." Shown with the Hide "Add to Cart" button, option and quantity selection setting, because turning this on makes the app remove elements from your theme. Check the affected product pages after turning this setting on, and contact support if anything looks wrong.

Why removing a variant can stop a bundle saving

Deselecting a variant can block Save in two different ways, each with its own message.

If the deselection leaves a slot with nothing in it, you get "Add at least one product to the group or remove the group" — the group still exists but now holds nothing. Either put a product back, or delete the group.

On a Shopify bundle, every change to the product or variant selection triggers an automatic recount of price combinations. If that recount fails you get "Failed to generate combinations. Please check your settings and try again. Try reducing the number of products or product variants. Note: the 'Uncombined quantity' and 'Optional products' settings significantly increase the number of possible combinations." Saving stays blocked until the selection is adjusted — usually by reducing how many products or variants the bundle spans.
